Week 12: 12 September - 18 September

Sep. 18, 2022

Folks, things just keep getting better. The european building process is absolutely fascinating for someone used to the traditional American “stick” frame style homes.

So while last week the framing was going up for the ceiling foundation, this week (yesterday, actually!) the ceiling was poured as you can see. I still have no idea how this can possibly work, but apparently it does. So the supports will remain in place for the next few weeks while the concrete dries.

We are now only 24 days from the date that the actual house will start going up. (October 12)

Looking into the garage, you can see the full support system for the basement ceiling/main floor of the house. You can see above the frame that held the concrete in place.

Closer view into the garage and the support structure.
This is the view from the back of the garage to the location of the staircase from basement to the main floor. Hence sunlight - the stairs will be there.
Another view from the same location to the garage door.
Back outside and you can see some more close up of the new ceiling/floor and the insulation and waterproofing on the outside of the basement. They have already started to fill in some of the dirt around the basement edges where the insulation and waterproofing is complete.
From the back. This is a better view of where the staircase will be (the hole in the floor at the front of the house.)

And so! Until next week!
