Well, nothing as spectacular as the first two days but there has still been
a lot of progress. It rained all day Friday and Saturday so they closed up on
Thursday by tarping the entire roof, as you can see below. I didn’t get any
decent photos of it but underneath the tarp, they were still working and
installing insulation that will go underneath the tiles. Also, as you may
have noticed in the photos from Thursday, there were a lot of gaps in the
walls where they were bolted together and without insulation and gypsum board.
The guys were taking advantage of the rain to do that work, thanks to the
fact that the tarp is keeping things nicely dry inside.
Despite the rain, they’re going ahead with the roofing. It’s sort of hard
to see but the top half of the roof is covered with a normal tarp for
protection from rain, but below that is actual covering that will stay up for
waterproofing. Above that, all of the wooden slats that you see are the
structure that the tiles will rest on. I’m really excited to go back once
they start laying the tiles. I think it will be really interesting and, of
course, once the tiles are done, it will really start looking like a liveable
house!
Just another view from the dirt pile. You can stil see where the first and
second floors were joined and that it’s missing insulation, etc. That will
be added later and once the stucco is added, you’ll never know that the house
was built in pieces!
