We decided to come back for another full day of building. Stano created
another time-lapse video, which you can see below. Again, the video
quality may be poor so adjust the YouTube settings as necessary.
We moved the camera to be on top of the dirt piles so that we have a better
view into the second floor where most of the work will be done today.

We arrived bright and early again and the builders showed up around the same
time. We went inside for the first time and really got a feel for what it’s
going to be like when it’s done.
This first photo is taken from the kitchen, facing toward Stano’s office. The
left space is the living room and the gap in the wall is where the chimney
will go. The room with the ladder will be Stano’s office and to the right of
that is the pantry. Right of that is the stairs to the basement, and right
of that is the stairs to the second floor.
This photo is taken from the center of the back wall. On the right is the
future kitchen, the first door left of that is our teeny downstairs bathroom
and to the left of that is the entry way. To the left of that, where you can
see the ladder will be the stairs to the second floor.
Taken from the far corner of the living room, on the left is the wall where
the fireplace will go. There are more views into the stairways, bathroom and
kitchen.
A view from the front corner of the living room. The far corner is the kitchen
and the views into the back yard. The far right is a slider.
Looking into Stano’s office from the doorway.
The pantry.
The downstairs bathroom. In this view, we’ll have a shower stall to the left
of that wall and a toilet to the right. A sink will be left of the window.
The stairway. You can see the stairs to the basement that were completed
yesterday. A ladder is in place until there are actual stairs to the second
floor.
A look down the basement stairs.
A view of the ceiling structure. There’s a lot of sound and temperature
insulation between the floors, even though it’s a wooden house. The wooden
slats will later be used to attach drywall to the ceiling.
8am and this is where things left off yesterday. The second floor is not
full height in all places. The front walls that you see will have an interior
height of 130cm or slightly more than 4 feet. These then slope up to normal
height walls in the center of the second floor.
Unlike yesterday, when the ceiling between the first and second floor came
pre-built off the truck, today the guys are building the structure for the
attic floor which the crane will then lift up to the top of the house.
Our roof tiles arrive.
The driver uses a mini-crane built into his truck to unload the pallets of
tiles.
We opted for the traditional red coloured roof tiles, even though there were
other options available.
Our builders continue to add in the rafters. It is supposed to rain on Friday
and Saturday, but the roof tiles are scheduled to be installed by the end of
Saturday.
The back of the house with all of the peaks installed and more rafters. The
room with the french doors is our bedroom.
Our resident excavator is back at work.
The crane puts the first section of the chimney into place.
They level out the chimney. It is held in place at the bottom with concrete.
The crane has done its job and packs up.
