Well, this week was a bit of a bust, not due to a lack of building progress, but rather due to the fact that Stano started the week with a cold and by the end of the week, Lauren had it too.
The exterior has remained pretty much the same as the focus this week was running electrical wiring throughout. Although you can’t see it in these photos, electrical wires are being run to the exterior as well for things like outdoor electrical outlets and lights.
These next three photos show various views of the entryway and the
massive amounts of cabling that is being run.
The wall in front with the circular holes will be a normal one with only
upper and lower cabinets and a countertop. The round holes are for the
electric boxes for various light switches and electrical outlets. At the
bottom of the photo you can see the PVC pipe for the central vac and the
grey boxes are CAT 6 cabling for the home networking.
Here’s another view of the kitchen from a bit farther back. The wall to the
left of the wall mentioned above is where our refrigerator, microwave and
stove will be. To the left of that will be some cabinets for some food storage.
As mentioned above, we’ll have some cabinet space for food storage in the
kitchen but we still wanted a bigger pantry for extra storage of items. After
the house is done, we’ll get someone to come in and install shelves and/or
cabinets in here for more storage.
Stano’s Office
Currently it’s a little bit difficult to see the whole of Stano’s office due to the massive pile of foam insulation that’s being stored in there. We aren’t entirely sure where this insulation is destined to go but no doubt we will find out soon enough.
One thing that you can see in this photo though is the outlet next to the
window. That is actually going to be a switch for the exterior shutters that
we will have. It’s fairly common these days for exterior shutters to be
built into homes because it adds to the energy efficiency of homes. I think
they’re kind of ugly, but it will be nice to close them in the summer time
when it’s hot and the sun is pouring into the house since we won’t have A/C.
Living Room
This is the side wall of the living room where you can see electrical boxes
and the switch for the exterior shutters next to the window.
Upstairs Landing
This is the upstairs landing, with more space for electrical outlets,
light switches, thermostats and central vac. The door on the right is to our
guest bedroom and the door on the left is our bedroom.
The upstairs bathroom is wired with light and fan switches, wiring for vanity
lighting and electrical outlets.
Lauren’s Sewing Room and Office
This is Lauren’s sewing room with a lot of extra wiring hanging from the
ceiling. The wires near the back wall are for task lighting which will be
over the sewing desks and the design wall on the left will have mini
spotlights.
This is the corner by the window in Lauren’s office with its electrical
outlets, network drop and radiator.
Guest Bedroom
Our guest bedroom doesn’t have nearly as much interesting lighting, just
a single ceiling light which will probably be augmented with floor or table
lamps later.
And finally, our bedroom! We have electrical outlets for either side of the
bed and, of course, a network drop even though we probably won’t have too much
need for technology there. You can see a black wire up at the top which is for
an electric outlet which we will probably use for a light curtain or something
similar.
Last, but not least, our closet with it’s electrical outlets and ceiling light.
